A Rare Early 18th Century Mahogany Tallboy (c. 1725 American)

This is a particularly rare example of an early eighteenth century Cuban mahogany chest on chest or tallboy. The moulded cornice rises above a secret cushion drawer and below a set of graduated drawers in two halves separated by a generous waist moulding. The sides to the base run through to the floor and support the piece, the moulded feet are applied for decoration and form. As well as the early form of carcass mouldings framing the drawers, the side of the front have unusual and exquisite vertical mouldings.
